When Sunshine and Kisses Aren't Enough: Healthcare Blogs

In some cases, when you're not feeling well, a bit of sleep and some orange juice can clear up what ails you. If a child gets a small injury, a kiss can often do the trick. However, when nature's solutions and tender loving care don't cut it -- you need a health care clinic that you can trust. Hi, my name is Pam, and while raising four kids, I dealt with numerous health issues from the common cold, to broken bones, to a chronic autoimmune disorder with my youngest. Our family health care center was essential during that process, and I want to share tips and ideas with others who may be in the same situations.

Alleviating Discomfort From An Extensive Spider Vein Problem

If you have several spider veins visible on the backs of your legs, and you are noticing the discomfort you experience because of their presence has recently become more frequent than not, you are most likely in search for quick relief. There are several steps you can take to help in alleviating the pain and pressure you feel in your legs because of a varicose vein problem. Here are some steps you can take to help in minimizing the symptoms you are experiencing:

See A Vascular Specialist

Many people put off seeing a professional for varicose veins because they are afraid they will be told to have a surgical procedure to remove no longer working veins from the body. There are however some less invasive measures that can help in reducing the appearance and pain associated with this condition. Going to a specialist will help in determining the extent of vein damage so a proper solution in relieving symptoms can be obtained. Your physician will do an exam of your legs in addition to a few radiology tests so the veins can be seen in detail. The results will be analyzed and treatment options will then be discussed.

Increase Your Movements

Since the veins in your legs are not working properly at circulating your blood, your legs may feel as if they are tingling or throbbing. To aid in the blood circulation in your legs, it is necessary to move them around to get it flowing. New veins often grow to help in moving blood around in the body if damaged ones are not doing their job effectively. While this will not reduce discoloration, it can relieve pain. To aid in getting your circulatory system working, take the time to do gentle exercises to help. Your physician will give you recommendations if desired. If your job requires you to sit down for many hours, request the use of a sit/stand desk so you can move around when necessary. Take short walks every so often to get your blood pumping as well.

Wear The Right Clothing

The clothes you wear can make an impact on the amount of discomfort your spider veins give to you. If you tend to wear pants on the tighter side, the restriction of blood flow in your body can contribute to discomfort. Wearing loose, flowing bottoms will help to keep your blood circulating as you move around. Purchasing a pair of compression stockings can also be beneficial in keeping spider vein pain from becoming excessive. These can be prescribed by your physician or purchased from a health aid shop.
