When Sunshine and Kisses Aren't Enough: Healthcare Blogs

In some cases, when you're not feeling well, a bit of sleep and some orange juice can clear up what ails you. If a child gets a small injury, a kiss can often do the trick. However, when nature's solutions and tender loving care don't cut it -- you need a health care clinic that you can trust. Hi, my name is Pam, and while raising four kids, I dealt with numerous health issues from the common cold, to broken bones, to a chronic autoimmune disorder with my youngest. Our family health care center was essential during that process, and I want to share tips and ideas with others who may be in the same situations.

Three Ways To Deal With Pearly Penile Papules

The emergence of pearly penile papules (PPP), which are a row of small bumps that appear around the glans of your penis, can be a cause for concern and prompt you to seek medical advice. This advice can come from a local urologist, who has almost certainly seen countless cases of pearly penile papules over the course of their career. They'll explain this condition so that you better understand it and answer any questions that you may have. For example, they'll likely reassure you that pearly penile papules are not a sign of a sexually transmitted infection, which may be a big relief to you. The following are some ways to deal with this condition.

Wait For A Change

While you might not exactly be thrilled to see your pearly penile papules, the reality is that this condition isn't serious. The simplest treatment option for this condition is to do your best to ignore the bumps and see if they disappear. It's common for PPP to disappear over time. Just as you were likely surprised at their recent emergence, you might be equally surprised—and a lot happier—to look at your penis one day and see that the papules have decreased in size or disappeared altogether. Expect your urologist to recommend this treatment option, given its simplicity.

Remove With A Laser

Some people won't be content to wait for their pearly penile papules to disappear on their own. In this case, your urologist can suggest one or more paths forward. One option is the removal of the papules with a laser. This treatment is relatively simple and your urologist can perform it in their clinic. Your urologist will use an anesthetic cream at the start of the procedure and remove the papules without causing you any discomfort. Recovery from this procedure is short.

Remove Through Surgery

Another option that you may wish to consider is the surgical removal of your PPPs. This treatment is common but is slightly more invasive than using a laser. Again, your urologist will anesthetize the area, and then use a scalpel to cut the papules off your penis. The recovery period for this procedure may be a little lengthier than the laser method but is still relatively short. Don't be afraid to ask questions about each of these options so that you fully understand them and can make an informed decision about how to proceed.
